Nando's Peri-Peri Chicken at Beaches Toronto

Everyone loves chicken! Well, for those that like chicken :-) If you haven't been to Nando's yet you should definitely go for a visit. You will probably like chicken even more!
The unique Nando's experience is evident in the fun and lively space, as designed by STOA collective. You can see the design insight behind the project below.
"Every Nando’s location is unique, and with over 1200 open around the world it proves to be an exciting challenge for any designer to create a one-of-a-kind identity while still maintaining the Nando’s soul and brand.
We approached this restaurant project as an exploration of colour and pattern blocking along with interpretations of traditional African weaving techniques while reusing the raw identity of the envelope. To achieve this we kept the existing historical small village finishes of the space as an underlayer to the Nando’s hygge; raw brick walls and tin ceilings layered with vibrant South African personality.
Local collaborations with artists and fabricators, as well as the incorporation of South African-sourced art and products, enabled us to create a space with authenticity at the forefront, where wood is wood and leather is leather, and most importantly, craftsmanship and detail is cherished." - STOA

Nike Office - Downtown T.O.
Nike downtown office designed by Pulsinelli Design. Creative details are in the space, including soccer shoe spikes used as wall art that make up the portrait and quotation of the Nike Co-Founder Bill Bowerman at the reception wall. In the studio space, full size brick pattern was reproduced to make the famous "Just Do It" tagline and swoosh appear as floating halos on the antique brick wall. In the collaboration area, Nike poster collage make up a custom wallpaper to add an edge to the room. The space in this downtown loft truly makes for a fun and energetic work space for the sporty crowd and their clients.
BMO first canadian place flagship
One of the most major renovations to BMO's flagship branch in Toronto transformed the bank into an open and modern environment for retail banking, making it buzz of the town in the financial district. The project was designed with close collaboration between figure3 and Kearns Mancini Architects along with the BMO Corporate Real Estate Team. Having worked on this project extensively myself, it is extra special for me to see the massive transformation and to photograph it indeed!
Desjardins financial centre Toronto
Desjardins financial centre is a one-stop-shop at the heart of Bay street - designed by Ædifica architecture + design.
I had the pleasure of photographing this modern bank in the spring. The clean double height storefront beacons with a large digital display, surrounded by bottom-lit animated angled wood panels that convey warmth and fun, a fresh look not usually expected from a bank.
The angular theme is completed throughout the architecture and interior. Boomerang shaped reception desk adds dynamism in the front lobby while the perspective accentuating slanted wood bay on the left side houses the main service desks where warm wood surround and desk height clerks greet customers in the seated position that adds to the approachable feel. On the right side, a lounge is situated in front of a large clear meeting room which anchors a bank of offices with clear glazed fronts. Inside, trapezoidal felt panels in organic pattern and colour add comfort and energy while adjacent exterior facing windows are also covered in translucent film of the same pattern - which forms a large messaging area for the entire side of the building.
This branch design is refreshing and is clearly aimed at the urbanites of Toronto, I can't imagine anyone coming out of the branch without a smile on their face!
zoom zoom, or more aptly named: ding ding
Toronto is one of the lucky cities to still operate streetcars in the downtown core. Though the experience of riders, inconveniences of cyclists and drivers along with weather hinderances are debatable factors; the trade-off of clean air unlike New York City or Hong Kong is welcomed in my books. Living with and adapting to these gentle giants is part of Toronto and an unique experience. Streetcar Portraits is a commissioned project to capture and convey the spirit of downtown - ding ding!
